According to the Miami Herald:
Dwyane Wade’s left shoulder: improving.
”It doesn’t feel like my right [shoulder],” Wade said, “but it feels good.”
Wade’s left knee: also good.
”I’m not in pain,” Wade said, “so I’m happy about that.”
But those hoping to mark down a return date must wait. Although some estimates have Wade missing training camp and at least the first two weeks of the regular season, neither Wade nor president and coach Pat Riley, speaking Monday during Heat media day, would say whether Wade’s recovery from two offseason surgeries is on schedule.
In fact, Wade said he never knew a schedule existed.
”It’s always been pretty much said that once doc gives me the go, then I go,” Wade said.
“The only thing I could do all summer — the only thing I continue to do — is to get stronger, continue to rehab.”
Right now, that rehabilitation involves everything except in-practice contact. Wade also said he needs to work on the strength of his left leg — ”One of my legs is way bigger than the other one,” he said — and he won’t be 100 percent until he’s able to play his way back into shape.
One plus: He has been through rehab before. Wade dislocated his shoulder during a game against Houston in February, then spent six weeks recovering and returned before season’s end.
This time, though, it seems Wade doesn’t want to rush things — especially when it comes to his knee.
”As an athlete, you’re going to be more nervous about your knee, because it’s your wheel — it’s what you do a lot of stuff off of,” Wade said.
“I go left a lot, but I don’t have to finish left a lot, so I’m not really worried about my left shoulder.”
